Our original security system was installed in June of 2003, right after I bought the house.   It served us well for 16 years.   It originally had a large fob which actually talked telling us the status of the system (Armed Away or Disarmed).   I gave this one to Betty and had an additional fob installed (just a simple 4 button).

In 2019 we decided to upgrade the system, I wanted a dual path system, the new one is capable of triple paths, telephone, internet, and cellular.   And in the process get some more modern, smaller fobs, Betty appreciated this immensely.   I took pics of each piece of the old system (identifying the make and model) and recorded all the programming fields in the control panel.   I shopped around and decided the Honeywell Vist 21ip was what we needed.   I also got a Honeywell TUXWIFIW keypad (gives us the ability to view and control the system from anywhere on the internet), a Honeywell 6160RF keypad, and a Vista GSM4G cellular card (gives us the third path).   We retained the old siren, smoke detector, and motion detector, all of which were working well and compatible with the new control panel.   The heat sensor in the attic was broken years ago (I didn't realize this until I surveyed the equipment) and will be replaced.
Viewing the TUXWIFI from anywhere on the internet is a little misleading, we have an extremely good firewall.   I will have to set up an encrypted tunnel to see the TUXEDO from ouside.

I am on my second Swann video system and I won't by one ever again.   Swann is not compatable with Linux or Honeywell and I can't abide that.   After my experience rebuilding our home security system and bevomming familiar with security system manufacturers, Swann is out.   Swann is ok for a beginner but I am past that stage now, I want an integrated system and they don't make one, that I have every found.
