Pencil Box
Build Info Back to Woodworking

For years I have had a ceramic coffee mug on my desk as a pencil box.   My only problem is the mug isn't large engough for the pencils/pens/markers I keep.   So... what to do?   I decided to build a pencil box from wood.   I originally thought I would use 1/4" box joints, but decided it would be quicker to use mitered edges.   I grabbed a piece of SYP, 3/8" thick (from an old drawer project) and zip pop, it was done.

One of the mitered joints from the top.

Looking down into the pencil box.

Better pic of another mitered corner joint.

Outside of the box and looking at the bottom.

The pencil box sitting on my roll-top.

A little closer look.
