I originally bought a Swann 4 cam NVR, which lasted a few years then died with no explanation etc.
I saved the 4 cams, but have been unable to commnuicate with them, probably due
to proprietary software in the cams.
Next I bought another Swann 4 cam, NVR (was almost the only choice I had at the
time.).

My main issue with Swann NVRs is it can only be viewed or managed from a Windows
computer. We only run Linux, hence, I had to leave it as a seperate system.

I also have a Honeywell Security System with a Tuxedo controller, which can't
find a Swan cam on our homenet!!!!
Yes, I connected them through a POE switch, grabbed their MAC when they asked
the DHCP server for an IP, then set up host stanzas in DHCP, to give them static
IPs as well as setting static IP in their control screens.
