Ladder Storage

In the mode of saving all the wall space possible, I decided to put the ladders on the ceiling above the garage door.   I got some ideas from April Wilkerson but decided to make the rollers cheaper, she had 1/2" threadded rod, I used 1/2" EMT.   I have an aluminum 8 ft. step ladder and an aluminum 13 ft. extension ladder. The ladders will be hung using a roller (thanks April) on one end and a hook on the other.

The idea is to put one end of a ladder on a roller, then raise the other end pushing the ladder further on the roller.   Raise the other end of the ladder to the ceiling, then roll it back until the hook catches.

These are the roller hanger for the ladder support.   The long strip is screwed to a ceiling joist on each end, the piece sticking up will have a roller held on by a metal strap.

The hook support.   I bought these hooks years ago in a package deal, and I finally found a use for these hooks.

Closer look at the hook.

Closer look at the end of a ladder roller, you can see the 1/2" EMT sticking out of the 3/4" PVC.
