Motors for Great Grandsons
|
I ordered a little kit, from Amazon, containing DC motors, battery holders (with switch), propellers, and lots of gears, axles, and rubber bands for miscellaneous items for some other projects. The boys were over and spotted the kit, they dived in and were entertained for the entire time of the visit, so... We gave these to all the great grandsons and it was the hit of their Christmas.
Ivy could care less about motors etc. but she loves to "help" me in the workshop. She says she wants to build something, so I tell her to draw a picture of what she wants to do. After she draws the pic, we cut it out on the small bandsaw, glue it up, and she paints it. As I do each step Ivy always says "can I do that" so I very carefully let her. She is very good at sanding and painting.

I mounted the motors and battery box on a wooden block. Note the wires haven't been soldered yet. |

I alos bought a small sheet of perforated plastic and sawed out small panels. |

I attached the panels to the block and soldered the wires. The perforated panels are for axles with gears, etc. Hopefully the boys will discover gear trains. |
