Ivy's (Jewelry) Box
12/14/16: Page Origin

Now that Ivy is 6 and has had her ears pierced she's started collecting ear rings (bobs).   I decided to make her a small box to store these items in.   Besides, every little person needs a little box to keep their special "stuff" in.

This box is made from Poplar(front, back), Brazilian Cherry(sides), and Pine(top/bottom).   It is 6" wide, 4" front to back, and 2-5/8" high (counting the lid).   I used my finger joint jig for the sides and miter joints for the top and bottom.   A little stick-on felt from Hobby Lobby and hinges/latch from Rockler.

Sides being glued with ClampIt, bandclamp, and cauls.   This is the bottom of the box, notice the edges are mitered to recieve the bottom, the top is the same way.
BTW I use a 45° chamfering bit on my router tableo miter these box sides.

Top/bottom, pine with mitered edges.   Again I use a 45° chamfering bit on my router table to miter these box lids.

Completed box.
