I don't have pictures showing the condition I'm trying to fix, here the gate works OK.
The gate on the West side of our house is subject to the gound subsiding when it gets dry.
Apparently the fence post nearest the house is too close to the foundation.
As the ground drys out the house stays the same but the gound subsides causing the post to lean out, pushing the other post towards the gate and closing the gap.
This gate can't be latched when the gound is dry, because the space between the gate and the terminal fence post is too small.
When it gets very bad, in really dry times, you can't even swing the gate past the post without it hitting, evenwhen the latch is open.
In the past I have swung the hinges counter clockwise to give a little more space netween the gate and the terminal fence post (on the left here).

If you look closely you can see the hinges are almost pointing at us instead of the gate. |
|
Closer look at the hinge. |
|
Note how the gate is out of alignment with the fence because I moved the hinges to the side. |

The latch closed, theres not muc space between the bottom of the fork and the terminal post. |

Also not much space when the latch is open. |
