Since about 2003 I have had a 12 port, punch down, patch panel under Betty's desk.
I never was happy about the punch-down panel, I had to be careful when I unmounted
it to add a new cat-5.
In 2023 I started adding cat-5s to the system, and realized I needed a 2nd panel.
When I ordered the new panel I decided to upgrade the old 12 port punch-down to
a 24 port pass-through, and also replace the old panel with the same kind of
panel.
The small single panels around the house are marked with the panel #, a dash, and
the panel's port, Like the middle pic above 1-6 (Panel 1, Port 6).
About TELCO:
The main line from TELCO (either pair or VOIP) goes to the security system.
Another line, from the security system, is the main phone line throughout the house.
In the event of a break-in, the security system disconnects the phone line, so a
robber can't take a phone off-hook and stop the secruity system from calling for
help.
