William Armstrong Turner

William Armstrong Turner was my great great grandfather who fought in the war
between the states in the 10th Alabama cavalry.
Link to his burial site pic.
He was born in North Carolina in December 24, 1831, died 18 June, 1899, and is
buried in Ebenezer Cemetery in Wood County Texas near Oak Grove Community, Texas.
He married Mary Ann Callaway Oct 17, 1856, in Talladega Co. Alabama (according
to her widow's pension app).

His first child, Noah Richard Turner (my great grandfather) was born August 26,
1856, in Tallapoosa Alabama.

William and Mary Ann had 6 children:
I discovered William Armstrong had served in the army (confederacy): When I found
Mary Ann Turner in the Texas Confederate Pensions database

Her Application number was 04542.

Note her husband is W. A. Turner and they lived in Wood County.

This is a screen shot of the entry:
Applicant Name App # County Husband Husband's App #

So I sent to the state for a copy of her application and, voilla, everything checked out, she was living with her youngest child Lula who Married Thomas A. Cartwright, all names we knew.
So far we haven't been able to find anything about William's parents etc.
I recently found some info in Find A Grave referring to several William Armstrong
Turners living in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Isle of Wight County, Virginia is just across the border from North Carolina, which is where W.A.
indicated he was born.
